Pastor Michael McFadden
Pastor Michael McFadden was born in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, the son of an Army officer and a schoolteacher. His father was stationed all over the United States and abroad, and Michael lived in many different places. His father’s last station was Ft. Ord, California. Michael attended high school locally, and earned his B.A. in Education in 1990 from Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. He returned to the Monterey Peninsula after college and has resided here since. Michael has worked primarily in education, retail, and government; he is bilingual in Spanish/English, and currently works in Veterans’ Services. He enjoys reading, gardening, swimming, conversation, and good company.
Pastor McFadden was raised in church and received Jesus as his personal Savior at the age of 19. Introduced to the charismatic movement while at university, he received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit at the age of 20. Michael started in lay ministry in his 30’s, serving in music ministry, intercessory prayer, youth ministry, and men’s ministry, ultimately receiving his call to Word ministry. Ordained in the year 2000, he has served as a Teacher and Preacher, a Pastoral Assistant, and now as a Pastor. He has a special place in his heart for Seniors, and for his mothers and sisters in Christ, whom he calls his “womenfolk”. He has ministered extensively to the sick and shut-in, in the prisons, and to the homeless.
Michael met his wife Patricia in church, and they were married in 2005. He has said, “There has to be a God, because I could have never got her without His help! She is a pastor’s dream wife”. They have seven nieces and nephews and four godchildren between them, as well as a circle of family by blood and by marriage, mutual friends, and the spiritual family of the Church.
Pastor Michael’s passion in ministry is the teaching and preaching of God’s Word, with an emphasis on life-application. He has a burden for intercessory prayer, and for people to walk in wholeness – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. He believes that positive relationships are essential: first our relationships with God, and then our relationships with each other. He has said, “Nothing else has ever filled me up inside, except for God and the people He has put in my life”. His personal heroes are Jesus, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Mother Teresa. Pastor McFadden believes that the Church is called to be the heart, the hands, and the voice of Jesus in this world, that we must represent Him with our lives, our words, and our deeds, if we want our witness to be received.
